We’re Back but We Were Never Really Gone
/We’ve been incommunicado since the beginning of the New Year. Sorry about that. Five months is a long time to be on hiatus. We’ve been so busy with so many projects, there’s been no time to write or share (read that… Marcie has also been lazy and hates to admit it), but we’re back and hopefully we can catch you up on all that’s been going on. Not to worry… it’s all been mostly good.
New Year’s Resolutions? We made ‘em like we always do. Did you? We’ll tell you all about them and see if we’ve stuck to any of them.
We started the New Year by attending CES, the Consumer Electronics Show, and we made it an adventure unto itself opting to use Las Vegas’ bus system to get to the Strip and staying at the Egyptian-themed Luxor hotel for a couple of days. More on that later.
We began a planned major renovation on the house in mid-January. It was long overdue. We’ve lived in the house since 2016 and though we’ve done some updates and kept up with repairs, it was time for a major overhaul. We’re talking new flooring throughout most of the house, updated kitchen, extensive interior painting and more. Lots of work, lots of $$$ and still in process. Midst all of that, we had a laundry room leak, some plumbing issues and a major roof leak from an infrequent Las Vegas rainstorm which took out a wall in our bedroom and required a major roof repair. Cha-ching!
We’ll fill you in on all the gory details soon.. We did most of the work ourselves, but the biggest challenge (read that nightmare) was working with contractors when we did contract to have work done. Delays, poor workmanship, more delays, no responses, excuses… you get the picture.
There have been some fun weekends, a sister meet-up with Lin in Newport, Rhode Island and our first camping trip of the season. Here it is mid-May already… nearly half the year already flown by which begs the question: How did we ever find time to work a full-time job? Join us as we catch up and then move forward in this fast-moving year.
