Lunar Crater National Natural Landmark

Lunar Crater National Natural Landmark

We were heading towards Ely, Nevada (pronounced ee-lee), but I’d previously noticed a tiny red dot indicating a point of interest on the Nevada map – Lunar Crater. It was about 84 miles from Tonopah, a halfway point to Ely. We thought it might be worth checking out… because, why not?

Walking in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest

With a copy of the trail map in hand as well as an AllTrails map loaded on our phone, we headed out to the Methusaleh Trail, a 4.5 mile loop which would take us to the general vicinity of the gnarly old guy’s neighborhood.

  Heading to the Eastern Sierras

The land flattened out a bit at Lee Flats and Joshua trees appeared. In the distance, the ragged, sawtooth peaks of the majestic Sierras popped into view, patches of snow visible on the highest peaks.

Just a Little Further

Hi there and welcome to Just A Little Further!

We are David and Marcie Lynn and we've lived aboard our Liberty 458 cutter-rigged sailboat since 2000.

What began as an urge to travel slowly and economically at our own pace ended up an adventure of a lifetime.

Well, here we are ... nearly 90,000 miles under the keel, 5 continents, 5 Great Southern Capes, 36 countries and almost two decades later, still taking one passage at a time and going just a little further.
