 Billy the Kid, Heading Home & One Helluva Dust Storm

We noted a sign pointing to the horseshoe pits. Really? Sure enough, we picked up free horseshoes in the camp office and headed to the pits to play a game. We were both pretty rusty, but after a few practice throws the shoes were landing in the general vicinity of the pits. The horseshoes were definitely much heavier than we remembered them being and the pits were further away.

 Lake Colorado City State Park – Sweltering Temps and Sunsets

It was so hot, we hid inside Blanche with the fans whirring till near sundown, then took a walk on the Cactus Cut Trail. It was so hot walking and too hot to even eat dinner when we returned. We munched on rice cakes and ice tea (sans ice). The sunset, however, was spectacular. It appeared as if the sky was on fire.
