U.S. Route 6 was established in 1926 as one of several numbered highways in America’s expansion West via roadway. It grew into America's longest transcontinental route by 1937, stretching from California to Massachusetts, honoring Civil War veterans as the Grand Army of the Republic Highway. It’s been modified and rerouted over the years, but large sections of it still exist, and it is still the longest continuous highway in the USA, now stretching 3,205 miles from Bristol, California, to Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Join us as we head east from Bristol, California, via a circuitous route across deserts, over mountains, across endless prairies to the dunes of Cape Cod on a ‘blue highway’ adventure. Click here to begin.
