The Great & Fabulous 70th Birthday Tour Comes to an End

We’re on a plane from Florida to Denver as I write and the great and fabulous 70th birthday tour is coming to an end. What a wonderful and awesome couple of months this has been. I’m not sure it could have been any better.

Someone asked if Rome was burning? No… just my birthday candles!

We started out at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, hiked along ancient cliffs and peeked into ancient caves, climbed to the top of Texas and met up with a rattlesnake, visited alien sites, crossed the Rio Grande and soaked in hot springs, spent time with family and special friends and celebrated the ‘special day’ in style with Brennan and Hannah. Take a look at the last couple of months… nothing less than awesome!

I had homemade birthday meals and cakes, exquisite bottles of champers, lots of hugs and kisses and gifts and greetings galore. I’m one lucky woman and I know it! I thought I might be a bit depressed about turning 70, but with all the hoopla, I didn’t have the time.

So, how did I do in the gift department? Wow, I cleaned up. I’ve been keeping track...

-time with Gentry and her family... outstanding

-a hot air balloon ride

-lots of hiking in national parks and camping in Blue

-an up-close encounter with a diamondback rattler

-an exhilarating climb to the top of Texas

-shared moments with sons, grandsons, granddaughters, nieces, nephews (and grands)

-dinners, lunches, at-home meals with special friends

-a special celebration with Brennan & Hannah that was ‘over the top’

Long walks and special time with Hannah and Brennan

-two... not one, but two... homemade birthday cakes (with way too many candles)

I know my friend, Nicole, is a great cook and baker, but who knew Brennan could cook & bake, too?

-two months with my very best friend

-jewelry and THE mushiest, most romantic birthday card ever... from that very same best friend (not to be shared!)

Yup, the great and fabulous birthday tour is coming to an end... OR is it? We have another week on the road to wend our way ever so slowly back home plus Lin gave me tickets to Beatles Love, a Cirque du Soleil spectacular on the Strip when we return to Las Vegas.

Thanks to everyone who made this birthday ever so special. I enjoyed it so much, I think I’m going to do it again for another month or two next November!
