Squindo and Metallica's Artists
/We’ve been back to the Metallica Blood Drive venue a couple of times now to volunteer during the blood drive and to donate blood. Each time I visit, I’m thoroughly enamored with the unique and captivating nature of Metallica artwork.
Metallica is known for hiring local artists to create original posters and T-shirts for cities on their tour. They not only support local talent, but they personalize their merch for their local audience by incorporating local culture and icons.
The posters and T-shirt images always seem to capture the essence of the venue, whether it's a blood drive in Las Vegas or a performance in Wales, Greece, Australia, or any of the 1,600 shows in 60 countries across all seven continents where the band has performed.
Yup, seven continents. I had to check that one! Metallica is the first band to perform on all seven continents, with a concert in Antarctica on December 8, 2013, at the Carlini Argentine Base, featuring a set of ten songs for an audience of scientists and competition winners. How cool is that?
Take a look at some of the unique Metallica artwork that’s been created.
The Antarctica poster for Metallica was created by artist Matt Stikker. His artwork features a unique interpretation of the band's historic concert in Antarctica, which took place in December 2013.
The official poster for Metallica's Athens concert was created by the design team at Revolver Design Athens,
The artist who created the Metallica poster for the Paris 2023 show is Munk One.
The artist who created the Metallica poster for the 2017 Mexico City concert is Munk One. This poster was part of a limited edition series specifically designed for the shows held in March 2017.
The official poster for the Metallica concert in Perth on November 1, 2025, was created by renowned artist Ben Brown. This collectible poster not only represents the event but also symbolizes the band's connection to Western Australia
The official Metallica concert poster for the Oakland, CA show in 2016 was created by artist Zeb Love whose work often bridges commercial design and fine art, suggesting a focus on artistic integrity over mass production
Tony Squindo, who describes himself as a ‘lowbrow artist’, has created many of Metallica’s T-shirt and poster illustrations, including the T-shirt offered to blood donors this year. He actually showed up at the blood drive here in Las Vegas to autograph some of the donor t-shirts bearing his designs. A huge poster of his artwork has been incorporated into the Metallica blood drive experience, and all donors are invited to sign it.
Additionally, Squindo’s original artwork is on display. You can read more about Squindo and how he became a noted Metallica artist here.
By the way, if you plan to be in Las Vegas between now and mid-March, you can donate blood at the Metallica blood drive, check out the awesome Metallica experience exhibit, and score a free T-shirt and a Metallica guitar pick for your efforts.
