Random Photos Along the Camino

I’ve been reviewing some of our Camino photos, and there were some I didn’t use because they just didn’t fit in with the Camino route or the city we were visiting, or I didn’t have room in a particular blog for more photos. I thought I’d share some of them with you… just because. Cows, chimps, giraffes, bugs, lizards… what’s not to like?

In Porto, a life-sized Holstein at the entrance of Ale-Hop, a Spanish retail chain famous for its bovine mascot. If you look closely, the cow appears to be on roller skates.

Leaving Porto on the Camino, we spied a papier mache giraffe head peeking over a wall at us.

Observed hanging on a stone wall along the Camino.

A beautiful irridescent Willow Emerald Damselfly (Chalcolestes viridis) beside a wetlands area on the Camino

Beware of the dog! In Spanish tiles, no less! You don’t have to read Spanish to get the gist of the warning.

A huge oscillated lizard. aka jeweled lizard is one of Europe’s largest lizards. We spotted him at Conimbriga Ruins. We estimated he was about 18” (46cm) long.

A gourd hanging from a tree welcomed pilgrims to a bed for the night.

A mini-Jesus in a niche in a stone wall along our route.

A Eurasian magpie

A cool water spigot in O Porriño, Calicia, Spain.

I love this. A slot for mail and one for fresh bread.

Bacalhau (salted dried cod) in the local grocery

An interesting door handle on the path out of Tui

A blue crown passion flower was an unexpected photo opp one morning.

Hope you enjoyed. What’s up next time? Not sure… I’ll know when I write it!
