Just A Little Further Turns 13

Just A Little Further is a teenager!

Just A Little Further, our website becomes a teenager today. Our first blog, appropriately titled Columbus Day, was posted by our niece and webmistress, Gentry, way back on October 12th, 2012. We were in Tasmania at the time and loving it. We’d been blogging sporadically since we moved aboard Nine of Cups in 2000, but once we initiated Just A Little Further, we updated regularly with Gentry’s help and tried to add more depth to the website beyond just blogs. Including today, we’ve written and posted 2,522 blogs since then.

Take a look at our very first blog…

Since we’ve started blogging, we’ve taken you with us across vast oceans, around five great capes (and a few nearly-great ones), to five continents, and around the world on a sailboat. You’ve shared experiences with us in 37 countries, including every country in South America.

We rounded the five Great Capes.

We’ve taken you with us to countless cities, towns, and ports and visited innumerable out-of-the-way islands. You’ve stood on the edge of an active volcano. You’ve trekked along with us from Rome to Canterbury and from England’s Thames Barrier to its headwaters.

You bicycled along with us from Washington, D.C. to Chicago, across Prince Edward Island, and along countless rail-trails across the USA. You’ve climbed high in the Rockies, the Andes, and the Alps. You’ve walked below sea level in Death Valley. You’ve visited all of the Canadian provinces and all but one of its territories. You’ve taken long road trips on blue highways across the USA and Canada. You’ve dipped your toes in the Arctic as well as the Antarctic Oceans.

What a wild ride our life of travel has been, and these past years of sharing with you have been even more enriching for us since Just A Little Further made its debut. Taking you with us on our adventures, both large and small, has greatly enhanced our enjoyment. Not to mention, rereading our old blogs reminds us exactly of where we’ve been.

Today, the website is more than just a collection of blogs. It’s a travelogue of our lives from country to country, across oceans and continents. It’s an epic tale of meeting people, experiencing new cultures, and appreciating the universality of humankind.

And we’re not done yet… not by a long shot. There’s still some juice left in these aging bodies, and having you with us will make it all the more pleasurable. We’ll keep going ‘just a little further’ for the foreseeable future and hope you’ll be traveling right along with us.
