Blanche Is For Sale

After several years of adventures, road trips, camping trips, and more than a few nights spent gazing at the stars as we sat by a crackling campfire, we’ve decided it’s time to find Blanche, our 2019 Ram Promaster, a new home.

Our Alaska Road Trip Was Sensational

The decision wasn’t easy. We’ve had a lot of fun with her, but the reality is that we’re simply not using her as much as we once did.

For starters, it’s hot out there. Living in the Las Vegas area means that summer camping within a couple hundred miles isn’t particularly appealing. Once the daily temperatures routinely top 110℉, even the nearby mountains are too hot, and a camper van becomes less of a cozy little getaway and more of a very expensive toaster-oven. In the past, we’ve coped by taking extended roadtrips up north, but there just hasn’t seemed like enough time to do that this summer, because…

Our travel plans as well as our travel habits have changed. We have taken several trips over the summer, and have quite a few more trips planned for the fall and winter, and most of them involve destinations and adventures where Blanche simply won’t be coming along. We’ve discovered that we’re traveling differently than we did when we first bought her.

And perhaps most importantly, we’ve pretty much run out of things to improve. When we bought Blanche, she was almost a completely empty cargo van—a big white box with a steering wheel. We spent months turning that blank canvas into a comfortable little camper. That process was a huge part of the fun.

There was always another project: build this, install that, add something else, rebuild it, then make it better. Eventually, though, we reached the point where there wasn't much left to improve. Blanche was pretty much exactly the camper we wanted her to be. And that's when we realized something: we may have enjoyed building the camper almost as much as we enjoyed using it.

So, after several years and many miles, we're ready to pass Blanche along to someone who can put her to good use and create their own adventures.
