Two Weeks in Albuquerque

For the past couple of weeks, we’ve been in Albuquerque, New Mexico, helping Gentry (our original web mistress, if you’ll remember) and her husband, Eric, remodel their kitchen. This past year has been the year of ‘the house’, ‘the condo’, ‘the kitchen’… the get-down-and-dirty repair, remodel, and renovate. We volunteered for just one more project and, as expected, it was a mix of fun, frustration, and hard work.

 Another Project - Reupholstering Our Kitchen Chairs

One of the many side projects I’ve been working on when we haven’t been demolishing tile floors or laying new wood laminate planks, is reupholstering the kitchen chairs. I bought these chairs used when we first moved into our house seven years ago. The upholstered seats were in pretty good condition then, but after so many years of use (and abuse), they were definitely pretty beat.

The Year of the House

We teetered back and forth on more renovations versus travel, staying here or moving to a different house. It’s not that we’re tiring of travel… never! But in the end after all the improvements we’d just made, we decided we like this house, but it desperately needed updating. Thus 2025 became ‘The Year of the House’. Since January, we’ve been doing house projects… big house projects.
